How insurance companies could understand and take advantage of their "information balance sheet" will become a key competitive advantage in the fast growing insurance e-business space. The presentation will explore the development of the insurance e-business market in China, drawing broad conclusions regarding the likely future direction. This presentation will be of interest to both life and P&C actuaries.

Our fall dinner meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 25, 2012, at the Hyatt Regency on King in Toronto.  We are pleased to have Mr. David Oakden, Managing Director, Actuarial Division of OSFI, to be our guest speaker of this event.  The topic will be

"An Actuary's Experience from Working with the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS)"

The IAIS was established in 1994 and represents insurance regulators and supervisors of over 140 countries around the world. The IAIS issues global insurance principles, standards and guidance papers; provides training and support on issues related to insurance supervision and deals with financial stability issues related to insurance. Differences in insurance regulation from country to country are a major impediment to the globalization of insurance. This is now a major issue on the IAIS’s agenda and future changes will affect us all. David will share with us his involvement with the IAIS and how changing regulations may impact Canada and the Pacific Rim.
